Mission Statement

Fieldens is non-profit 501(c)(7) organization whose mission is to provide a private activity center for dance, theater entertainment, art, education and especially socialization, specifically geared to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) community and its' supporters (friends).

Fieldens is a private club which is allowed to operate after hours under special IRS and VA ABC rules. The club is REQUIRED to follow these special rules about admission, guests, and handling of alcoholic beverages or face fines and the loss of our ABC license. Please be advised that the management of the club will strictly enforce membership, guest, and club rules!

Membership Rules & Requirements

Memberships are reasonable, and allow you to socialize in a safe and friendly environment supportive of our community. In order to use the club facilities regularly without restriction as a guest, you must purchase a membership. In order to purchase a membership you must be sponsored by a CURRENT member or join on an open house night and membership application must be approved (generally by the following Friday). A yearly membership is $50 to join and $40 per year to renew and membership is subject to review. Application and membership fees are subject to change at renewal. Admission is free before 1 AM, and $3 per member after 1 AM on normal operating nights. The admission fee may be higher for special events, or open house events. As a member you may bring liquor for mixed drinks, bring guests, sponsor memberships, enjoy club all functions, and hold special private parties. Expired members will not be allowed into the club unless they renew or are signed in as a guest of a current member.

Guest Rules

Current members may have guests, only at the specific invitation of the member. Members at the very least must know the guest’s first and last name. Guests are limited to one visit every six months if local or two visits every six months if non-local. Members are responsible for the conduct of their guests, must pay the admission fee for each of their guests, normally $10, and must make all purchases for their guests. Guests may not bring liquor into the club. Guests must sign the guest book, with his/her real name, acknowledging that a member has sponsored them, explained the club rules, and agrees to abide by the club rules.

General Club Rules

• No one under 21 will be admitted. Valid photo ID is ALWAYS required.
• Absolutely no admissions without valid photo ID. An expired, altered or cracked ID is NOT acceptable!
• Presenting a false ID will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of VA law.
• No one may use or distribute any illegal drugs in the club facilities; violators will be barred for life, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
• Members and guest are subject to random search for drugs.
• Large bags must left outside of the club or be checked at the front desk; however we are not responsible for items left at coat check.
• Due to the association of light sticks with drug use, and the VA ABC’s preference, we discourage them in the club. Please leave them at home.
• Everyone in the club must adhere to proper social conduct.
• You must not become intoxicated.
• Due to insurance liability there is to be no running, jumping off stage, lifting or swinging of people, standing/dancing on furniture, hanging/swinging on sprinkler system, or pyrotechnics.
• Members are responsible for the conduct of your guest
• Members must be present while their guests are in the club.
• You must, at all times, be courteous to the staff and follow their direction, failure to follow their instructions will result in being asked to leave and may result in being barred.
• You must, at all times, be courteous to other members and guests, and respect their privacy. (If you like to take pictures be polite and ask first.)
• Any altercations will immediately result in removal from the premises.
• If police are summoned for any reason you will be barred for life.
• Liquor may be brought in by Members only. No other outside alcohol is permitted.
• Liquor must be in original containers, must be checked in at front desk and tagged with your membership number, and then must be checked in by the bartender. Bottles may be left at the club, or taken by members; however they must be in a bag, available at front desk. It must be stored behind driver’s seat or stored trunk in accordance with VA law.
• Only the members may authorize pouring of drinks from his/her bottle. Our bartenders are subject to discipline for violations. However, Fieldens assumes neither responsibility nor liability for a member’s liquor.
• Bottles left 30 days beyond expiration of membership shall be legally discarded.
• Membership can be suspended for guest conduct.
• Membership can be revoked or suspended, without refund for rule violations and may result in being barred for life.

The club may, under ABC rules, host a few special events each year that are open to the public, for the purpose of introducing others to the club facilities. These events usually include Halloween, New Year's Eve and certain special events to raise funds to support other non-profit groups consistent with our lifestyle, philosophy, and mission statement.

Also, Fieldens hosts special events that are NON CLUB FUNCTIONS, at which your membership does not apply. These are usually private parties sponsored by club members, or are fund raisers for non-profit groups that are supportive of our principles and lifestyle. Members may attend these functions only by invitation and by paying the appropriate admission charge.
